On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday I had a job doing motion capture for a video game. I had to sign a confidentiality agreement to not leak anything about the game. Thats fine with me because I hardly know anything about it anyway. Its all such a secret. The proccess is far more interesting than any story point in some game anyways. They movment is captured by haveing the acion filmed by dozens of cams all around a central floor area. The performer ( in this case me ) wears tights covered in little reflective balls called markers that are placed at key points in the body. Also a helmit for the makers on my head.

The Cameras see only the balls. At least three cameras have to see each ball for this to work but I do my thing one move at a time and the computer creates a stick figure of my motion that will later be used for a character in a game. the thing is unlike film where it takes a long time to get through anything as soon as you are done they are ready for the next shot. Its constant dynamic movment all day for three days. I was so sore after the first day I thought i wasnt going to be able to perform the next. I was very sore but completed my contract and had alot of fun. I realy want to work on another game again.

Tuesday Night gymnastics as always.


Every tuesday its gymnastics in Tswassen. We all had a purpose on tuesday. We had to train our individual parts for the stunt show that would start on friday. Maja and Katie worked on their sword fight and fall from the stairs. They set up some soft stairs out of the eight inch thick crash pads and reahersed thier fight up the stairs. The fight ends with a kick down the steps. They were able to recreate the location they would be fighting in in foam blocks and mats. This way the fight could be reahersed as safe as possible.
Other people were practicing their high falls of the wall of the gym into the foam pit below. this is so much fun everyone joined in. This was a smart idea in the long run because by the time we did the show it was clear that we would have to swop around roles in the show for verious reasons.






Falling is fun! Look at the foam pit. You may miss your target and land in the foam but its realy difficult to miss the wole pit and hit hard ground. On the day of the show we will not have this safetly zone so training now is very important. Mats are set up the same way they will be during the show and this gives us a chance to make mistakes and find our own techniques to the different fall durin the show.






After the serious training is done thats when we get to just mess around like any other tueday. Like running up the wall next to the trampoline.






We also get creative sometimes and this evening was no exception. It would be a science experiment. With a few big guys and little Katie


It was decided that we should try the old heave hoe


to see how far we could toss her, you know.



The results were much more then we had hypothisized.


No Katies were harmed in this experiment. Only a little foam it the eye.


Conclusion: Small girls if thrown by large men fly far.

Stunt Show





Howdy all. Lately I have been working on a charity fundraiser stunt show for the childrens hospital that one of the studios here in town is putting on. They are calling it The Village of Villans. I was asked to work on it while still on Dugeon Siege. At that time i was asked to do it wearing the Krug suit. I have mixed feelings about putting the Krug suit back on so thank the lord the producers didn't want people to see the suits before the release of the film.

Then they gave me this mask.



I once again have mixed feeling because i have to flip and the mast is tight and blinding. I convince them to let me go without it. The set is left over from Stargate SGI and its awsome. Its a huge Medieval Village.





This is our playground. All the buildings are real with full interiors and furnature too. Just watch your step when not on the ground floor becauce 90% of what you see here is all foam. The other thing about the foam is it gets damaged easily and they want to come back and keep shooting Stargate here next season. So haveing a huge medieval battle as we plan to every 15 min for three day will be tough without bustin stuff. We shall try our very best. Although we have already damaged alot. HEHE!! We have had three reheasals now and things are going well. Friday night we have our first show at 6 pm and the all day Sat and Sun. It will be fun but tiring. The last rehearsal we got our costumes to try. We all had fittings last week but were ancious to try them with the action we will be doing.

Katie has trouble with her pant and the booties they gave her but she manages.

The Rehersals are slow going because things keep changeing. The stunt show follows a small child that seems to be plucked from the crowd to be sent to the medieval prison. He escapes from the jailer and battles his way through many many enamies (us) to finaly rescue all the people watching the show from certain death. There are two kinds of bad guys, witches guards. I play one of them and the other kind are the Alians. The alians and the witches are supposed to be fighting over the ghosts in the grave yard. The tour in the studio travels through many different places before the stunt show and the story is brought out in this tour. Puppets and actors playing alians tell there side of the story on one set then the tour travels through the grave yard to the witches layer where they get more story from the witch. All this time many tricks of the movies are used to make all this happen. Finally the tour is stopped by the witches guards because the tour group is disrupting something I don't know exactly I havn't taken the tour my self but that's he jist. The child is pulled from the crowed is the first to go. The mother (an actress) pleeds for the child the kid sceams. Then begins the stunt show. Its alot of work for one 10 year old kid to do in one go so we have 6 leaning the show. This is what takes the majority of the time. All the children are good but one, Conner, is amazing. He is as good as the rest of us. Oh ya I forgot he has been doing stunt for 5 years now. Rehearsals also take forever because every child needs to lean and we need to lean a different show for each child. Only slightly different but still different because some kids cant do what others can. This gives us time to just hang out wich is nice.





Its nice to catch up.
The high fall guys wait there turn. Thats a thirty foot drop there.

The Show will be great Im sure. Many of us are going to rehears our parts at gym tonight. It should be fun.
